Well, I'm feeling pretty special right now 'cause I've eaten at #2, Arpege, in Paris. During my rebound period after breaking up with Rachel's dad, I ended up dating my ophthalmologist (now that's a good spelling bee word!) a gastronome who made it his mission to take me to France where we would eat our way through Paris and the Loire Valley. We had a $400 lunch at Arpege, which was by far the most expensive meal either of us had ever had. Our appetizers, fresh white asparagus in a an herb sauce,(maybe sorrel...I can't remember) and pureed truffles in a parmesan sauce, were the equivalent of $66 USD each. The portions were quite small and the food was good, but not mind blowing. The service was over the top, with maybe 7 people waiting on us. TOOOO MUCH!!!
Well, it's one for the books, because it's unlikely I'll do anything like that again...
