Ughhh! She actually LIVED in the dreary suburbs of Metairie/Kenner???? That can't possibly be! I could see her owning property anywhere, but not actually living in Jefferson Parish.
You can really insult a New Orleanian by telling them that something they did is "so Metairie." (Unless it's "Old Metairie," which is definitely NOT Kenner, but still a far cry from the graceful old Lower Garden District manse in New Orleans (proper) where Rice did once reside.
Supposedly it's the Kenner house that served as the basis for description in her book "Interview with a Vampire." I don't know how much truth was mixed with fiction as I didn't read the book nor see the movie.
